Review: Bar Splendido – Tigers Milk

This past long weekend was superb! The weather played along giving us some much-needed rain and Sunday was a stunning summers day! It was so good Claud and I both agreed we cannot sit at home.

We headed out to the CBD, walked up Long Street and further up to Kloof Street where we came across Bar Splendido which is another restaurant part of the Tigers Milk brand. Tigers Milk has eight other branches in and around Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Tigers Milk Kloof Street Review

Bar Splendido has two entrances, one on Kloof Street and the other on Rheede Street in Cape Town. We entered from the Rheede Street entrance and as you enter you walk into a majestic bar, we opted to sit outside as the weather was too wonderful to be indoors.

The space which the restaurant encompasses is open and can seat up to 180 people. The décor and seating arrangements is a mixture of grand, retro, classy, modern and edgy. I really love the setup and vibe; chilled but sophisticated.

I ordered a Mango and Thyme Margarita which was particularly exceptional, and I would order it again and again. For mains, I had The Big Cheese Burger which is part of the 9 burgers available on the menu. Claud ordered Fish n salad with mushy peas. The menu is quite diverse including burgers, steak, pizza, nachos, salads and desserts.

The food was really enjoyable and the portion sizes were filling; not leaving you feeling stuffed and ready for bed. The prices on the menu are a bit higher than what you would normally pay however for a date/day out it is well worth it. I would also not recommend sitting on the benches if you plan to eat as the height of the benches and tables are a bit uncomfortable, get a table and you good to go!
