Firstly, something completely unrelated but totally necessary, I HAVE to pay respect to Beyonce’s FIRRRRE performance at Coachella. If you haven’t seen it, have a watch right now… then come back and read my post.
The weekend spoilt us with gorgeous weather and as a result, we headed out for a drive to Seapoint. I’ve noticed a large number of new and interesting eateries have opened in this area and I am keen to embark on a little taste tour. After reading numerous blogs and seeing countless mouth-watering pictures I went with only one intention – to visit Jarryds Espresso Bar and Eatery.
The venue is chic and attractive; a fine option if you looking for a new place to hang out with buddies for a drink and something to eat. Jarryds objective is to source and serve local and seasonal produce, fairtrade coffee and artisanal bread.
With this in mind, the price point for drinks and food is as expected which I definitely did not have any issues with especially as the portion sizes are more than adequate. Claud and I both had leftovers to take home.
I ordered an iced latte from their Espresso Lab which was rich and fragrant. Well, we first had tequila shots, as you do. The restaurant offers a number of drink options; coffees, smoothies, cold-pressed juices of which you can put together your own mixture; milkshakes and alcoholic beverages.
Breakfast is served all day; this is a huge selling point for me as breakfast, without a doubt, will be my first choice. The menu offers a tremendous range of options; basic breakfasts, smoothie bowls, oats, a benedict bar (winning!), a toast bar, and a wide variety of sweet selections.
After which felt like a lifetime due to my indecisiveness I opted for the Thick Cut Brioche French Toast served with white chocolate and cornflake crunch, lemon puree, winter berries and vanilla cream. For R98.00 this dish did not in any way disappoint, it was heavenly and everything I could and will dream about.
Claud, being a bit of a health nut, ordered the Superfood salad; with sumac marinated free-range grilled chicken breast, herbed quinoa, toasted nuts, carrot ribbons, charred broccolini, avo, mixed seeds, shaved parmesan + spring onion served w/ cumin, citrus & thyme dressing (phew a mouthful)! I had his leftovers and it was scrumptious, something I will definitely try and reinvent for healthy suppers.
Jarryds is unquestionably a spot I will recommend, trendy, attractive, refined and ideal for lunch dates. The customer service is impeccable which adds even greater respect for this eatery. Bear in mind that last order needs to be placed by 4pm.
That’s a wrap folks, have an awesome week x.
